TweetHate is a funny thing…well not in a laughing matter kind of way, but just funny in terms of what it makes people do. There are all different types of hate and there are all different ways that people lash out with their hate. No on is immune to it, no matter your age, race, religion, or social status. So as mentioned before, I grew up in a cycling family. A “fun” family vacation usually meant everyone on their bikes with rucksacks attached, and a tent stuffed to whoever was the strongest rider. This started before I was even born. Being the youngest of four growing up we didn’t have a lot of money, so this was one of the ways of getting somewhere cheap. Also my dad really loved cycling and I think really wanted us to love it too. Unfortunately it had the opposite effect. Now as a grown up I enjoy it, but there’s something about being a kid and being FORCED to ride your bike every Saturday morning to train for a two-day, 90 plus miles bike trip in the middle of the summer with one night of tent camping in between while all your friends are off at Disney World for spring break, that just makes you really not enjoy the sport and even start to resent it.
TweetYesterday we had the chance to go have a family day (minus A
). J had taken the day off in plans to go visit with our new niece and also to have a fun day at the beach, but because of weather the latter did not happen. My parents joined with the intent to have some good grandparent time and to also help my eldest niece finish her quilt that she had started the week prior with my mom. My mom taught all four of us kids to quilt and we have all made our own quilts as children with her, it was only fitting that she passed it along to her grandchildren as well. Continue reading
