As an ex-teen mom, I can only say that telling a teenager to not have sex is like telling a morning dove to not shit on your patio furniture.  You can’t tell if they really understand you or are listening to you, and if they do and are they still don’t listen. My father is a minister, my mother an OBGYN Nurse Practitioner…I still got pregnant. NOT because I wasn’t told to NOT have sex, NOT because I didn’t know that I could get pregnant, but because I did not properly use contraceptives the way they should have been used, and because I was young and stupid enough to do basically anything that my then boyfriend who was three years older wanted me to do.
